Tattoos and Different Tattoo Designs For Women

Though they have been around for over five thousands, the popularity of tattoos seems to be cyclical and depends in a large part upon where you live and your religion. For instance, if you reside in the Middle East and are a Muslim, the chances that you will have a tattoo are slim to none, since Islam forbids it. However, when it comes to the Western world, tattoos have experienced a sudden surge in popularity over the past decade.

This increase can be attributed almost entirely to people whom wouldn't have dreamed of getting a tattoo a generation ago, but are now more open to the idea. Why the change? Well, that is a complicated question for a much longer article. In this article we are going to focus on some of the most popular tattoos and the different tattoo designs for women.

Not surprisingly, women like tattoos that are more feminine. You will hardly ever find a woman with a tattoo of a tank or an anchor on her bicep. Also, women tend to be more experimental when it comes to the placement of their ink, but for men it's fairly simple — the bicep, the shoulder, or occasionally, the chest.

But for women the most popular spots include: the inside of the wrist, the small of the back, the foot, the ankle, or the calf. It is also quite common for women to have a tattoo applied in places that... hmm... well... they don't often see the light of day.

The most popular tattoos for women include: butterflies, flowers, hearts, dolphins or zodiac symbols. Probably the most masculine of the popular female tattoos are tribal ones. Although women usually have them applied to the lower back, rather than the upper arm.
